Water Monitoring

Its often said by experienced seasoned hobbyists and professionals that we are water keepers first and Koi keepers second. We agree completely and in this section we want to highlight the key areas its vital to pay attention, and not just part of the time – but all the time!
From the outset its important to appreciate that it is the very nature of water that the chemistry will change and vary. The key to success in Koi keeping is to understand and manage these variations within an acceptable range. This range is specific to your system and your source water, and by understanding and defining them you can take control and manage them to your advantage. Well at least thats the theory, and just like many other aspects of Keeping Koi the theory might be relatively straightforward, but the execution rarely is, and this one is no different!
