Water testing is a fundamental part of having a pond and keeping Koi. Clear water isn’t always good water. As Koi keepers we are in fact keepers of water. If we can provide our Koi, gold fish, or any aquatic life come to that, the correct environment to live in, they will thrive.

It’s always a good idea to test your tap / source water, this will give you an idea what your dealing with, and every time you clean your filter and do a water change, you’ll know what needs to be addressed in terms of re-mineralisation.

One of the most important parameters to understand is kH or Carbonate Hardness, this is fundamental to providing a stable environment for you Koi, and it is life saving to them.
