Koi Quarantine Tanks
We are currently looking in to producing our own range of Quarantine Tanks, and hope to be able to offer some for sale soon.
A Quarantine Tank – (QT Tank) can be a lifesaver when it comes to isolating a sick fish. Also, a Quarantine tank can be used to grow Koi on indoors in a heated environment.
The true purpose of a Quarantine tank is for that said sick fish, with a smaller tank it costs less to heat, also less to treat the water, and the sick fish can be monitored and caught up easier than in a big pond.
Another purpose of a QT / Grow on Tank is that should there be an issue with the main pond you have somewhere to put the fish quickly whilst repairs are being carried out.
There are things to consider before purchasing a QT tank, firstly the tank has to be running 24/7 with some fish in there to maintain mature water, ideally it needs heating and be able to be heated comfortably to 22-24°C.
There is no use in having a Tank and thinking it can be filled switched on and be ready to receive a sick fish in a matter of even a day, the sick fish would be stressed even more and would probably see a very quick demise.
There are varying sizes of Quarantine Tanks available the most popular being a 6’x3’x3′ fibreglass tank on feet with a built-in bottom drain. If you require further help on this subject please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
