Oxygen – O2

Oxygen is of course a fundamentally important requirement for all life, and Koi are especially high consumers, but in a Koi pond they are not the biggest oxygen users, that accolade goes to our filters! The combination requirement of these two massive and ongoing O2 consumers, means our overall systems require and consume significant amounts of oxygen.

The biggest source of oxygen in bodies of water generally is via atmospheric absorption, ie contact with the air. In our Koi ponds however the combination of the extraordinary level of requirement and relatively small surface areas, renders that impossible.
