Colombo Nitrate Pond Test Kit (NO3), is produced from the breakdown of nitrite in the filter.

Nitrate is relatively harmless to freshwater fish, (unless at very high levels for a prolonged period of time), but its presence can indicate a deterioration in the pond environment, and high nitrate levels will encourage algae growth.

An ideal Nitrate level in a mature pond is under 50mg/l.

The only way to know what the nitrate level is, is by testing it with a Nitrate test kit.
