Japanese Matting – Top Grade
Japanese matting is probably one of the best filter media’s available in the UK.
It is still widely used in Japan.
We only sell the genuine Japanese Matting, beware of cheap copies.
Japanese matting has many uses, it’s main use is as a filter medium that beneficial bacteria colonise, it has a huge surface area, and lasts a very long time, so only really needs to be purchased once. Cut to size, it can also be used as a water polisher placed in skimmer baskets etc…or made into cartridges as seen in the picture opposite.
It functions well and can stand up to treatments better than other media.

It can be cut with a circular saw, band saw, an angle grinder or even scissors.
