KH UP ADDITIVE

We have used this product for many years at our facility, it is a very good high grade product that does what it is designed to do.

KH or Carbonate Hardness is so important and yet often overlooked, in our opinion KH is one of the most important water parameters to keep in check.

Carbonate Hardness is the amount of Calcium Carbonate in our ponds, and it is very important to have a sufficient amount of Calcium Carbonate in your pond, for reasons of achieving a healthy Bio filter and providing the Koi an environment they can thrive in.

We have all heard of a pH crash, well in simple terms KH prevents that.

There are many reasons why your KH will drop in your pond, the amount of Koi present, feed, algae, and photosynthesis to name a few, they all contribute.

For most hobbyists the ideal KH value to aim for in your pond is around 6dh. (6 degrees hardness)

How To Test the KH?

We sell a simple drop test kit that quickly identifies the amount of KH / Carbonate Hardness in your pond water (see related products below)

Yes you can use Bicarbonate of Soda, far cheaper but it won’t last as long, i.e you will be buffering / adding it more often. As having used both we have achieved great results with this one.

Available in two sizes, 3kg and 10Kg buckets.

Dose Rate

35g for every 220 gallons / 1000 litres of pond water.

We only recommend a 2dh rise in any 24 hour period, as any higher will swing the pH too much, and your fish won’t like that.

An ideal value for kH is 5dh.
