PDV Salt 25kg

This PDV Salt is mined in the UK and is of the highest quality, and being food grade is suitable for a wide range of uses, and is excellent as a supportive treatment for our Koi.

It can be used as a dip or in your pond to kill parasites and aid with bacterial infections, even controlling algae.

Salt is fantastic for the Koi’s osmoregulation, it balances out the fluid levels in the body.

When treating with salt please be aware that it cannot be used with all chemicals, notably Potassium Permanganate and Chloramine T, at high strength.

Max recommended dosage with these chemicals is 1 ounce per gallon (0.33%)

Dosage for use as a general tonic treatment is 1 ounce per gallon (0.33%).

As an addition when treating bacterial infection with other treatments, such as Acriflavine use 1.5 ounces per gallon (0.50%).

As a dip salt can be used at 3 ounces per gallon in a suitable bowl for up to 20 minutes , or as high as 4 ounces per gallon (2.64%) for 10 – 15 minutes or until the koi shows signs of distress, whichever is the shorter.

We absolutely recommend using a salinity meter, as otherwise when treating your pond with salt, it can be a guessing game, due to evaporation, water changes, and or rainfall. The one we recommend and sell is the Koi Medic Tester see link here
