Hikarimoyo

The second of our metallic classifications is home to all multi coloured metallic Koi except Showa and Utsuri. King of the classification is the Kujaku, but there are also some other spectacular Koi types including Koi such as Hariwake, Kikusui and they come in almost every colour combination.

The main consideration common to them all is that they are metallic and the degree of shine or lustre is important in determining overall quality.

Clean heads and bright finnage are also important, but its the lustre thats most important. Lustre in metallic Koi is the same as skin quality in non metallic Koi and so its just as important.

Here’s the list for completeness, in no particular order:

  • Hariwake: Matsuba with yellow pattern
  • Kikusui: Doitsu red/orange Hariwake pattern
