Water Quality
“Look after the water and the Koi will look after themselves!”… Paul White
Water Quality is THE most important of all the elements. Its complexity, variability and propensity for rapid and extreme change represents the ultimate of challenges of any fish keepers but for Koi Keepers in particular.
While we of course “keep Koi”, our real job is to manage water and to maintain water quality at the highest quality and consistency. Fortunately, experience has helped us what that actually means and to understand the key element that determine what high quality water actually is. This information in turn enables us to measure and manage these elements to achieve this very specific and challenging core objective.
By understanding whats most important, and whats not, and how these important elements interact and affect each other, we aim to help you build a knowledge base and focus on the really important stuff and enable YOU to be successful in this ultimate of Koi keeping challenges.
It’s often said that Koi keeping begins and ends with Kohaku. While that’s true, at The Oaks hard won experience has taught us that Koi Keeping really begins and ends with Water Quality! It’s that philosophy that’s the inspiration for this information and also pretty much everything else we do in our business too.
